What This Calculator Does
The Date Calculator lets you add or subtract any number of days, weeks, months, or years from a starting date to find the resulting date. It is the foundational date math tool β useful for computing future deadlines, past reference dates, and any scenario where you need to shift a date by a known interval.
How the Calculation Works
The calculator takes your start date and the amount you want to add or subtract, along with the unit (days, weeks, months, or years). For day and week arithmetic, it simply adds or subtracts the equivalent number of days. For month and year arithmetic, it accounts for varying month lengths and leap years β for example, adding one month to January 31 yields February 28 (or 29 in a leap year), because February does not have 31 days. The result also displays the day of the week for the computed date.
Example Scenario
A project manager needs to schedule a review meeting exactly 6 weeks after a project kickoff on March 3, 2026. Entering March 3 as the start date, selecting "Add," entering 6, and choosing "Weeks" produces April 14, 2026 β a Tuesday β giving the manager the exact date to circulate to the team.
